    • Learn correct sitting posture and guitar holding.
    • Practice rest stroke and free stroke on open strings.
    • Understand string names and tuning (with a tuner or app).
  • Assignment:

    • Practice plucking each string with p-i-m-a using both strokes.
    • Tune your guitar daily before practice.
  • Focus: Notes on the first string and rhythm basics.

    • Learn how to read standard notation for E, F, G on the first string.
    • Introduce whole, half, and quarter note rhythms.
  • Assignment:

    • Play simple exercises with the notes E, F, and G.
    • Practice clapping basic rhythms.
  • Explanation of intervals and their role in chord formation.
  • Understanding Minor Chords: How they differ from major chords (flattened 3rd).
  • Practice minor chords: Am, Em, Dm.

Assignment:

  • Practice exercises combining notes from both strings.
  • Play a simple melody like “Ode to Joy.”
  • Focus: Open-position chords and simple transitions.

    • Learn basic open chords: C, G, Am, E.
    • Practice transitioning between two chords slowly.

    • Play simple chord progressions (e.g., C → G → Am → E).
  • Focus: Basic fingerstyle techniques and patterns.

    • Practice p-i-m-a patterns on open strings.
    • Introduce simple arpeggio patterns (p-i-m-a-m-i).

    • Play arpeggios over chords learned in Week 4.
  • Focus: Simple etudes and basic arpeggios.

    • Introduce an easy etude by Carulli or Sor.
    • Combine right-hand arpeggios with simple melodies.

    • Play the etude slowly, focusing on tone and accuracy.
  • Focus: The C Major Scale and hand coordination.

    • Learn the C Major Scale in the first position.
    • Practice alternating rest stroke and free stroke.

    • Play the C Major Scale slowly, focusing on smooth transitions.
  • Focus: Introduction to beginner classical pieces.

    • Learn a simplified version of Spanish Romance (first section).
    • Focus on dynamics and expression.

    • Practice hammer-ons and pull-offs with a metronome.
  • Focus: Building strength for barre chords.

    • Learn the proper hand positioning for barre chords.
    • Practice holding an E-shape barre chord.
  • Assignment:

    • Practice transitioning between an open chord and a barre chor
  • Focus: Improve transitions and playing complete pieces.

    • Review all chords, scales, and etudes learned so far.
    • Work on smooth transitions between chords and arpeggios.

    Assignment:

    • Play through a piece like Lágrima or a favorite etude.
  • Focus: Performance and technique refinement.

    • Perform a chosen piece or etude.
